Over the next few days I will be reviewing our Orders records and awarding some of our members our Benefactor Medal for their generous contributions to our charitable projects. The Benefactor Medal is not well known within our Order. It is deliberately awarded without fanfare in keeping with our Orders traditions. It was created in 2012 and is awarded in three grades - bronze, silver and gold - to recognize generosity in support of our charitable work. There are no set donation thresholds for each grade, and its award is entirely within the discretion of Grand Chapter and the Grand Master. Potential recipients are nominated by other members of the Order or by national Commanders. It is not for donations or financial contributions to the Order itself, but rather through the Order or directly to charities. In rare occasions, it is also awarded to non-members of the Order for their support of charities designated by the Order. Thank you to all our members for their support of our charitable work in 2014.
