Over the past few days, I created a list of my favorite TV Shows. Ive been thinking about how much television shows have changed and how popular they have evolved, with some now saying they are as good or better than films. With that in mind, I thought back to the shows that made me care the most, laugh the hardest and truly love them in similar ways as Back to the Future or Clerks did. So, I listed the 15 shows that really made an impact on me. Little note on the list: With ONE exception, I decided only to list shows that have already ended, so shows that I do really like such as Sherlock, Walking Dead and How I Met Your Mother are not on this list yet. Keep that mind when looking at these shows: 15. Futurama-Such a good variety of great humor/creativity. 14. Monty Pythons Flying Circus-Come on, its Monty Python! 13. Star Trek: The Next Generation-The great stories/ideas just keep coming 12. The Office (American, Seasons 1-7)-Great adaptation with a great cast 11. The Office (British)-Great Originality and Ricky Gervais talents shine 10. Scrubs- Great brand of comedy and can hit you in your heart at times 9. Malcolm in the Middle-The most underrated show ever. Brilliant. 8. The IT Crowd-Did you try turning it off and on again? 7. Seinfeld-Gotta love the classics 6. Star Trek-Oh come on, who wouldnt have guessed this was on my list? 5. Spaced-Another underrated show but so good and funny. Everything I love. 4. Whose Line is it Anyway?-The show that will ALWAYS make me laugh 3. The Simpsons (Seasons 1-12)-Created my sense of humor. I still quote/use this to this day. Truly the funniest show ever made. 2. Firefly-I cant even believe how fantastic this show is. So many interesting characters, great story arcs and wow do you care. My heart was pounding during certain episodes (particuarly during the movie) 1. Freaks and Geeks-My all time favorite show. The only show ever made where I can connect with every single one of the seven main characters, especially Sam and Lindsay. This is the only show or movie I have seen where this WAS high school and properly showed the feelings and situations I and others went through during that stage. There are episodes that deserve standing ovations for that as well as having great humor, drama, stories and above all, phenomenal characters that seem real. Too many people skim it over cause some of the stars are now popular, but this is so much more than some show hipsters will watch to fake saying Oh yeah! I knew James Franco before 127 Hours. There is heart and a great realism to what happens to these characters and this show and I love, love, LOVE it for that.
