Over the past few months, I have been working on a list of application questions for young people as they read through the Bible. So far, I have completed questions for the books of Ecclesiastes ( I have given them to my pastor for theological approval:) and am now just completing questions for the book of Philippians. If all goes well, I am hoping to publish them:) Here is one of the questions for Philippians 3- False teachers are preaching their convincing but dangerous message all over the media, Internet, and also in the popular, bestselling books of our day and age. Sadly, many individuals are wooed by these teachers because their message coddles our human desires, attacking the true doctrine and teachings of those teachers and preachers of the true word of God. Many of their religious dos are based upon works, with the intention to destroy the true church of Jesus Christ, completely dependent on the outward appearances of religion. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees in Matthew 23 for their deceiving, hypocritical actions that led others astray, as they were led from the way of life, to the way of death. Are we able to discern between Biblical and non-Biblical theology and teaching? For example, what would be our answer if an individual proclaimed that Gods law must be thrown away, that men are born inherently good, or that Jesus Christ was only a prophet? Have we ever evaluated the lives of the false teachers in our spheres of life? Do they project Christ-like holiness, or a hypocritical version of moralism? Your thoughts?
