Over the past few months, we have lost a few fosterers, and today, everyone at the branch would like to take a moment to thank Gavin and Kirsten for all their hard work and wish them all the success in their new home in Stirling, and sincerely hope that you make contact with the Alloa branch to offer them your fostering services. Now, that leaves us with a shortage of fosterers... hence our appeal! Do you have room where you could foster anyting from a wee kitten to a pair of the more mature cats and anything and everything in between? Do you have the caring nature that is so desparately needed to take in unwanted, abandoned and sometimes unloved cats and kittens? What is required is a spare room, where you will be given all of the necessary equipment, litter, food etc to allow you to support these wee animals until such time as a new home is found for them? A spare room is ideal, but if you do not have cats of your own, then CP cats can come into your home and can then wander freely round your home. Access to a car is essential, as you will be required to take your charges to our vet in Livingston, maybe only once or twice for check-ups and vaccinations, but your wee one may have other issues, (and these do happen), where you can be a regular weel-kent face at the vet, and, once you have brought the wee thing on, your heart breaks because you have to give him or her over to their new family, but hey, dont be sad for them, as well be round to your house before you can dry your eyes with your next wee bedraggled beastie. Lets be honest, we are struggling to keep up,and this is where you come in, we want to take in every cat that comes to us over the helpline, we want to take in every cat that is e-mailed in to us. The owners can be at the end of their tether, and the hardest thing is telling them that we cannot help... but this can change if you come along and join us. We pay all out of pocket expenses, and you join a group of people from all walks of lfe, but have one over-riding determination... to help as many cats and kittens as we possibly can. Again, lets be honest, it isnt easy. We do lose some of our cats, some we feel will never be rehomed, and can be a real upset, but, no matter what we do, we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down, and take whatever is thrown at us, whether that is someone crying down the phone as they have been, today, evicted from their home, moving home and cant take their cats to a rented flat, or a really great, loving cat owner who worshiped their cat, and we have had a family member call us to say that they have died and the wee cat is in the house, alone, is being fed, but at 15 years old, what is going to become of them. So, enough of that... we need your help. If youve ever thought of working, (boy, the pay aint great, cos there isnt any, and then you end up on the wrong side of a caller!!!), now is certainly the time to join us. Fortunately the weather isnt bad for December, but it is going to get worse... are you the pair of hands thats going to lift the wee cat from under a bush on Christmas Eve, thin, neglected, starving, has fleas and probably worms? Are you the pair of hands that takes that wee one to the vet and cares for it lovingly... please help. Call us today on 0845 371 2719, you dont know just how much we need you. Thanks for listening, all your friends at West Lothian Cats Protection x
