Over the past few weeks I have been reminded of this quote: Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybodys power and is not easy. Aristotle Over the past two weeks a few people have come at me hard and with a lot of anger here in Facebook land. The accusations were filled with judgments about who I am as a person. I may be in denial but I could not see a/ why they felt the need to do this b/ why they felt it was okay to consider themselves a friend and at the same time carry around such thoughts about me ( from their comments it was clear this was something they had been thinking for some time - why not just delete me). In the end one thing I am sure of was that it all had a lot to do with expectations. I do not carry a lot of expectations re my friends/acquaintances. That is other than basic respect. I value diversity and understand that our opinions can change. Yes, there are people who I do not choose to be friends with. Our values are too far apart. This does not give me permission to take them down, cutting them off at the knees. Being on the other end of the force of their anger (which had to be connected to something much bigger than the situation that brought it on) was difficult. It made me doubt myself and wonder about how safe it truly is to reveal oneself on this platform. But I am still here and I am still committed to relationship building and to my writing (Facebook is a little like a blog for me). I once hid posts from a woman I loved and greatly respected but felt posted too much negative news. It wore me out. We all need to take care of ourselves here. We have options... delete, even block, we can hide or ignore posts. ~ All my Relations ~ Jonina
