Over the past few weeks & months, I have seen many posts on this page concerning items or services for sale, traffic conditions on Route 7, neighbors allegedly stealing other neighbors packages, or missing pets. This concerns none of those. As 2014 winds down, I extend my boundless admiration & heartfelt gratitude to the following folks who quietly and thanklessly make New Milford a good place to live: - Rev. Jack Gilpin and the parishioners at St. Johns Episcopal Church, who warmly welcomed our Voices of Poetry event at their beautiful church to benefit Loaves & Fishes, without asking for so much as a nickel in remuneration; - Lisa Martin, the President of Loaves & Fishes, and her colleagues who run this soup kitchen / food pantry for the benefit of our less fortunate neighbors; - the men, women and (occasionally) children who volunteer 7 days a week, 365 days a year at Loaves & Fishes to prepare, cook & serve free hot nutritious meals to their neighbors; - the individuals, merchants & restaurants in and near New Milford who donate food to Loaves & Fishes to enable them to prepare those meals; - people like Beverly & Andrew Monthie, owners of Bank Street Coffee House, who support organizations like Loaves & Fishes and who have welcomed the literary & performing arts into their wonderful café; - Liba Furhman - Director of Hunt Hill Farm Trust - who has so warmly & graciously hosted wonderful literary & performing events at that scenic & historic venue; and - all those who attended our Voices of Poetry-Thanks for the Giving events in 2013 & 2014, raising approx. $2,500 for Loaves & Fishes. Each of these people deserve our thanks & support. In 2015, join them.
