Over the years I’ve had the good fortune to find great people in my life with the willingness to be my mentor. And fortunate are they who find them as well. Coaches are motivators but mentors are different than coaches. Mentors are wise and trusted teachers who know what we are seeking to know and are being what we are seeking to become. Mentors are ‘welcomed intruders’ who we allow into places that are ‘no fly zones’ to everyone else. A mentor’s job is to help us to see the patterns in ourselves that are keeping us from greater happiness & success and causing problems for people we live & work with. Mentors are enlightened souls who offer perspective without giving advice and who refrain from judging us for our frailties. Mentors keep us on track longer and get us back sooner when we fall off.
