Over the years, our small band of Epicureans plus other nonbelievers popping up on various virtual forums have lamented that there are no institutions, as there are churches, for those who dismiss the supernatural to join together say on a sunday for fellowship. There are a few humanist churches that have strouted that attempt to fill the role of conventional religious places but without resort to god. And Alain de Botton has proposed a humanist church alternative. One promising possibility is to explore the implications of pastors losing faith--with the help of newer parishioners converting their structure or more likely another place (churches are being sold as they have to close with the fall off of believers) from a house of worship to a house of celebration of the natural.
