Over this summer, a young French Lady and her boyfriend are embarking on a South Island horse ride from Picton right down thru the mountain valleys and passes to Bluff.. Alex... the Lady, has been in touch with me quite extensively regarding route and terrain information, along with where one high country station ends and the next begins, along also, with contact details for each station to gain permissions.. Alex is interested in meeting up along her journey with other horse trekkers to accompany them along various bits of the trail..... She is hoping to commence her journey end of October initially from Picton to St Arnaud , then down thru the Rainbow Station and road towards Molesworth.. I will probably accompany them on one of the more difficult sections from Lake Sumner area over the Dampier Range and down thru Mt White Station, crossing the Waimakariri river, and on over leaving them at Flock Hill Station... If you have experience and would like to join them, then contact myself and I can pass this on.. When they start their journey I will post a web link so you can log on and follow progress.. As I have mentioned this sort of ride is not for the faint hearted, and they will come face to face with many challenges, but.. they are going into this with eyes wide open.. I wish them all the best and a safe journey...
