Overdue Hillwalker - Glenelg At around 16:41 hours on Monday 19th January 2015, Police Scotland received a report of an overdue female hillwalker in the Glenelg area of Lochalsh. Police Scotland co-ordinated a search with support from Glenelg Mountain Rescue Team who were deployed and carried out searches in the Sandaig Bay area. Further assistance was provided from Kyle Lifeboat, HM Coastguard Rescue 100 helicopter and officers from the Police Scotland Dog Section. The missing hillwalker, who was in her sixties, was traced safe and well at around 23:00 hours by local police officers in the Arnisdale area, after having to take an alternative route due to the inclement weather conditions. She did not require any medical attention. Skye and Lochalsh Area Inspector Lynda Allan praised the efforts of all involved in the rescue effort: Police Scotland would like to thank crew members of the Glenelg Mountain Rescue team, Kyle lifeboat and HM Coastguard for their assistance with the search, especially given the inclement weather conditions. The joined up multi-agency approach during this type of incident is essential to securing a successful outcome: preventing loss of life and serious injury.
