Overloaded day! We visited three agencies today from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF). It is a mixed emotions of sadness, awe and inspiration among other things as we try to learn and take as much learnings and informations as we can from this small yet progressive country. As one Governor noted, Singapore is an Orchestra with just one conductor playing a beautiful music while the Philippines is over a thousand orchestras playing varied music that results to just noise. What we need is not just quality leaders but as well as national discipline in which every citizen need to play an important role for us to move forward. The most common learnings from three agencies are: Planning in a coordinated way is a MUST. Public Consultation is critical and Government should really LISTEN. Political Will. ...a really, really, long way to go for the Philippines. :(
