Overloading overlooked by Police alleges aggrieved passanger Cases of accidents are prominent during the monsoon or any other time each year in treacherous bending curves along mountainous Sikkim highway. Out of which ample of accidents occur due to negligent overloading, flouting the state traffic as well as motor vehicle rules that some drivers dont follow seriously due to which many lives are lost. Drivers unaware of rules or law protectors arent supervising norms accordingly along the road ? Finding the answer to the question literally go unfounded with passage of time but occurrence dont stop there. So, whats the finding thats giving space to more accidents less prominence for alertness ? A Namchi resident Prativa Chhettri informs VOS about her experience referring as her broad-day nightmare after having come across shocking incident. According to Prativa Chhettri today , a Taxi passenger vehicle which was heading to Namchi from Siliguri at 12:30 PM via Sadam in South Sikkim was stopped for checking by two traffic policemen. One of the policeman identified as Praveen Chettri whos supposed constable and another Home Guard Tika Ram Pradhan called on overloaded passenger vehicle driver to ask one of the passengers to transit for a while by walking since some few distant away checking is going on, in addition as alleged that policemen also pulled down the hoard of vehicle to cover-up excessive passenger overload inside the vehicle. This witness Miss Chettri indeed was present in front beside driver which is supposed to have seating capacity of 2+1 including driver, but exceptionally extra one passenger was added by driver even after she revolted all along the way finding difficult to seat in congestion. Miss Chhetri mentions that those policemen acting on tip off seem not in normal as their body language and erratic vocabulary during the conversation with driver exposed they could be under the influence of some narcotics or even intoxication. Furious policemen and the drivers negotiation thereafter subsided probably by mean or otherway letting their vehicle go finally, she mentions. Miss Chettri explains to VOS that their vehicle was examined at Melli checkpost by the policemen but his tactical move to make excess passengers walk across the bridge to bypass overloading could not be caught, though she does mention she was unaware about this spin drivers intention earlier. With a heavy heart trying to reach out of mouth, she and her colleague beside along with other passengers reached Namchi at 5:30 PM while leaving their life on gods hand for safety from Siliguri to Namchi !! In this matter both have reacted strongly after talking to VOS on the phone, they would boldly stand in front to identify those policemen and driver whose negligence must be strongly dealt with.
