Overview A developing weather system near the Gulf of Mexico this morning is expected to track up the Ohio Valley today and Tuesday. This system is expected to push rain and strong winds into Nova Scotia starting Tuesday morning in western Nova Scotia and then progressing eastward throughout the day. The models seem to diverge somewhat on total rainfall amounts but anywhere from 20 mm up to 50 mm can be expected by Wednesday morning depending on the location. These types of systems typically bring periods of heavy rain and sometimes even a thundershower or two. The strong southerly winds gusting in the 70 to 90 km range will also help push temperatures up into the 8 to 14 degree range by late Tuesday. The heavy rain and strong winds will have moved east of the province by early Wednesday morning. It should be noted that Flood Watches have been issued for parts of Maine and New Hampshire. As for here in Nova Scotia rain and wind warnings have been issued and may need to be expanded later today: weather.gc.ca/warnings/index_e.html?prov=ns
