Owner of Local Daycare Wanted for Child Death Caused by Drug Overdose Over the past several months Waco Police Departments Special Crimes Unit Detectives have been investigating the death of a four-month-old female child. Detectives believe the child died due to an overdose of Benadryl given by the daycares owner to keep the baby asleep during naptime. On March 4th, 2013 officers responded to Providence Hospital on a child death. It was learned that 4-month-old Clara Margurite Felton of Waco, had been transported to the hospital by ETMC. Daycare workers at the Spoiled Rotten Daycare notified an ambulance after the child was discovered unresponsive and not breathing in her crib at 2:50 pm that afternoon. J.P. DeCluitt pronounced the baby deceased and ordered an autopsy. The baby was sent to Dallas and autopsy results show the baby had a “Toxic Level” of Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) in her system. Cause of death was determined to be from the toxic effects of the drug. Based on evidence discovered during the investigation, detectives requested a warrant for the arrest of the daycare owner, Marian Bergman Fraser DOB 10-19- 1963. Judge Taylor issued warrant # A-41459 for the charge of Injury to a Child (Causing Death) 1st degree Felony, for Marian Bergman Fraser. SCU Detectives have been in touch with Fraser’s attorney and expect her to turn herself in sometime today.
