P.J. thinks he’s in charge of not only the house but those who - TopicsExpress

P.J. thinks he’s in charge of not only the house but those who therein reside. And considering he’s the oldest boy-dog (and one who learned under the tutelage of Jackson, an imposing Australian shepherd and all-around ranch foreman) that’s a fair enough thought. But . . . (and there’s always a “but,” isn’t there?). The other day P.J. thought Remy and Baux were acting too much like the knuckleheads they are. So, he told them. Well, they snapped right back. Next thing you know, we had ourselves a genuine fracas. They were so busy snapping at one another, they didn’t even notice Maddie sneaking into their midst. Then she did her Tasmanian Devil impersonation – on everybody. Remy and Baux were taken aback, but P.J. made one last-ditch effort to bite Baux on the snout. But when Maddie saw that, she rushed over and started licking on P.J., telling him to cool off. Just seconds later, with dust still settling, Maddie looked at me, as if to say, “It’s what I do.” That’s the way it goes. With three large boys running roughshod through the place, all it takes is one little girl to keep the peace. She’s one determined Border collie. I’m glad she’s on my side.
