PA Holstein Juniors will be Dealing in BLACK & WHITE Last Call to make your Room Reservations and order your tickets for the 27th Annual PA Jr Holstein Convention on January 30, 31, and February 1, 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Reading, PA. The youth will be flush with fun, and will share in a wonderful kitty of prizes and awards. Room Reservation are due Friday, January 9, 2015. Reservations can be made by contacting the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Reading, PA at 610-376-3811. Please indicate you are with the PA Junior Holstein Convention to get our Lodging Rate of $95.00 plus tax. Ticket order forms are due January 10, 2015. The schedule of events can be found at the PA Holstein Association website: paholsteins or by calling PA Holstein at 814-234-0364 Convention highlights include: Friday, January 30th – Dairy Jeopardy and the Prepared Public Speaking Contests are scheduled to begin at 11:00a.m. There are three (3) fun, hands-on workshops planned for Friday afternoon – Stack the Deck – Packing Your Showbox, Royal Flush – Delish Dairy Snacks “Grow’em & Show’em - Feeding Your Show Heifer . A buffet dinner will be followed by the Pennsylvania Junior Holstein Annual Meeting. There will be a couple special things that will only be available at the Annual Meeting, be sure to attend and get updates on your Junior Association. The Friday evening entertainment will include a Laser Tag battle, a mixer Dance and GaGa ball too! Saturday, January 31st- Our Dairy Bowl contest takes center stage beginning at 8:00am with the Junior Division Contest. Junior member can sign up at the Convention to enter the Man on the Street Contest and the Extemporaneous Speech Contest as well. In addition, juniors can sign up for a morning tour one of the area’s newest Robotic Milking facilities at Kurtland Holsteins. The afternoon can include a visit to Ozzys Family Fun Center - Activities available will include: Lazer Tag, Rock Climbing, Roller Skating, and Jungle Jim. Youth can also dive right in the action; in the indoor pool at the hotel. Saturday evening will include dinner and recognition of our 2014 Junior All-Pennsylvania winners along with viewing our Man on the Street winning videos and the winning videos in our new Dairy Production Video Contest. The evening will conclude with a dance featuring Jumpin J entertainment. Sunday, February 1st - The final morning will conclude with the Awards Breakfast. This will be the opportunity to recognize the achievements of many of our Junior members for their work throughout the year. The schedule will also provide time to enjoy the best Southeast Pennsylvania has to offer, including a well stocked dairy bar, an interesting and very usable gift bag and lots of time to visit with friends and the opportunity to meet new people involved in Junior Holstein activities. Remember to bring your county support for the Great American Milk Challenge Pennies War. Bring your loose change, and make a contribution to help buy milk for local food banks. It’s our chance to share our wealth with those less fortunate, and share our great product milk. Juniors are reminded to bring their photos of people, animals or scenery and artwork which can be either a sketch/painting or 3-D design/sculpture for those contests held during the convention as well.
