PACE MAKER IMPLANTED FOR THE FIRST TIME OUTSIDE TERTIARY CARE HOSPITALS IN KASHMIR: According to a press release By Directorate of Health services Kashmir to Sachnews Jammu Kashmir On 18/4/2014 a life saving device Permanent Pace Maker was implanted for the first time in the Cardiology unit of Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) Hospital on a complete heart block in a 50 year old female patient by Dr. Shahid Iqbal Tak and Dr. Kaiser Habib, Cardiologists of JLNM Hospital. This is for the first time that such a landmark procedure has been done outside a tertiary care hospital in Kashmir. Procedures like these performed at peripheral hospitals will be a boon in health reforms and needy patients can avail tertiary care at their doorsteps. Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman has appreciated the operative team and the administrator of the hospital on achieving this remarkable feat.
