PACIFYING ELGEIYO MARAKWET COUNTY; THE ROLE OF THE GLOBAL FAMILY 1. Let us learn to respect all our leaders - the Senator, the Governor, the Women Representative, the Members of National Assembly, the MCAs, all the rest, past and present as well as ourselves. We avoid mudslinging and insults like useless, sycophant, ngombe, mwizi etc 2. Let us revisit our Constitutional and Legal framework. Ascertain the mandates of our elective political offices and demand results. Those that are resourced like the Governor and National Assembly members should demonstrate citizen participation, transparency and accountability. For instance I implore our Governor to establish County Equalization Fund with regard to the arid Kerio Valley that runs across our County. Our Senator ensures we receive our due allocation based on the agreed criteria, negotiates for our share of the national resources like road funding and opportunities 3. We prevail upon our leaders to unite in the interest of the entire EMC fraternity and refrain from using us for their selfish and narrow political machinations 4. We ensure quality debates in our criticism that are sober, fair, objective and balanced. A proper social audit 5. We demand our County Leadership adheres to the principle of ethnic and regional balance in our County while assigning resources and opportunities for a balanced county development. This is a Constitutional principle that applies to both levels of Government. Look at the distribution of important public National and County institutions in EMC. This guards against isolation, exclusion and marginalization and enhances unity. Affirmative action where it applies This way we will move forward as a County
