PAID CASTING OPPORTUNITY: Casting 5th September, for production shooting 9-12th September 2 males and 1 Female Fee per actor: £200 per day This is a hybrid documentary fiction examining the myths and methods around the films of Stanley Kubrick. They are seeking actors who are able to re-interpret and improvise around the characters within The Shining, moving away from the 1979 actors’ own embodiments within the film to make our own, new vision of those scenes. Breakdown: Male 1: ‘Jack Torrance’ – A teacher with designs as a novel writer, teetotal after an incident with his son. Being hired as the caretaker for the Overlook Hotel for the winter which he sees as a serious responsibility, is his chance for a new, dedicated focus on his self-definition as a writer. (3 scenes, 3 days filming) Male 2: ‘Brady’ – A waiter. Polite, genteel and insistent. He had been the previous caretaker for the Overlook Hotel. May or may not exist. (2 scenes, 2 days filming) Female 1: Nurse/Child Psychologist – a caring, mothering professional who is genuinely concerned for her little patients, and the surroundings they grow up in.
