PAID NEWS .... Then and Now...AAP ke liye Arvind Kejriwal said in Nagpur that the media had been paid heavy amount to promote Narendra Modi and then added that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)would send media to jail when his party would come to power. ..Kejriwal said, “For the last one year our minds have been filled with Modi, Modi...Modi and some TV channels have been saying that corruption has ended, Ram Rajya has come, this has happened, that has happened; why? Because money has been paid, TV channels have been paid a heavy amount to promote Modi.” ....Threatening action against the media, he said, “This time, the whole media has sold itself, it is a big conspiracy. If we ever form the government, we will probe this and everybody, including media personnel, would be sent to jail.”.....(zeenews.india/news/nation/media-is-sold-out-on-narendra-modi-will-jail-them-arvind-kejriwal_917916.htm)l Okay thats fine. There is no doubt that a large section of Indian media is now indulging in paid news and articles. This rot is stinking now. But does Kejriwal have the moral right to shout with that fury ? I do not think so... because he had under the banner of the NGO Kabir once paid the media massive amounts to make him a hero...in the name of RTI activities....He paid the media... The annual report of Kabir said ( 2006-7) said : The beginning of the reported year 2006-07 was very important for Kabir, as well as the Right to nformation campaign in this period. Kabir in partnership with one of the highest TRP rated news channels XXXX, newspapers like XXXXXX ******* and $$$$$$$$$ started planning for a Campaign to promote the use of the RTI Act, 2005 amongst the masses. The aim of the campaign was to urge people to stop paying bribes and instead use their right to information to get their work done and also to assist them in doing so. Initially this campaign was supposed to be launched in Delhi only but very soon numerous organizations working in various cities across the country joined the campaign. At the same time the print media at the regional level also joined the campaign. Consequently, 8 media houses publicized right to information in their news dailies and news channels. .....The Successes received from the use of Right to Information were being telecast in the form of advertisements and news stories on various news channels from the first week of June itself. Kabir not only collected such success stories but also coordinated their reporting on various print and electronic media ..... There is also a list of Editorials that were written by in house team of the Kabir and given to the media for publication. Now more interesting : How much money was involved and what was eaxct nature of in such partnerships is anyodys guess ... the Ministry of Home Affairs had conducted an investigation into Kabirs foreign fund matters and the MHA report says : ‘Cash Books w.e.f 2006-08 is not available with the association. As per statement of Mr. Manish Sisodia, the cashbook has been lost somewhere due to shifting of office. It is again questionable that vital documents like the cashbook have been lost. From the perusal of details in the years when the cashbook was maintained i.e 2008-09 to till date, it has been observed that most of the expenditure has been incurred in cash. In the absence of cashbook, the genuineness of the expenditure can not be ascertained.’ (Home Ministry report, point no. 11, page 8 of 14) ......
