PAINFULL MEMORIES Like a massive swarm of maggots gnawing on a rotting corpse as it lay, Hungry memories of the past painfully eat me away day by day. They feast on me all through the day and the night Torturing me over and over, bite after bite. In between the bites I try to get up and run, Enduring agony with every falling and rising sun. As I gasp but my last earthly breathe, Yearning for no more pain but only death, I hear a voice from someone afar, Someone mighty and from a distant star. Before me appeared a bright shiny being, And I could not believe what I was seeing. It smiled at me and filled me with bliss, And spoke to me and told me this: “Rise my son, and feel no more pain, Or you will surely go insane. We had to expose you to some earthly sorrow, So you will experience a much better tomorrow.” “Life had hardened your sensitive soul, So we had to step in and to take control. We have chosen you for a mighty earthly chore, And had to expose your sensitive inner core.” “Never forget these earthly sorrows that you have felt, For others succumb to worse pains than what you were dealt. Liberate yourself from this excruciating anguish, Erase from your mind those you wished to punish.” “Fearlessly walk this Earth with a pure heart, Ever knowing that we are never far apart. Be kind and generous to your fellow man, Always willing to lend a helping hand”. “Now go my son and live your life, Forget about your ex-wife.
