PAINTS WIN!!! Chillicothe held on to survive a 13-11 slugfest win over the host Richmond RiverRats tonight at McBride Stadium. Richmond jumped out in front early, 3-1, but the Paints scored 11 unanswered runs to take a seemingly comfortable, 12-3 advantage. Them the Paints pitching staff began experiencing control problems and the defense committed three errors that aided Richmonds comeback run. Headed into the bottom of the 9th inning with the slim two-run, lead, Chillicothe reliever slammed the door on any thoughts Richmond had of rallying for a win. Dempsey shut the RiverRats down on just nine pitches to earn the save! Chillicothe pounded out 19 hits, including three hits each by Chad Sedio and T. J. Diffenderfer. Sedio had a triple and a stolen base. Ronnie Dawsons bat continued to heat up with a pair of home runs, while Drew Erie was credited with a double and an inside-the-park homer. Kurt Hoekstra, Zach Jacobs, Joe Hoscheit, Greg Rhude each added two hits to the winning cause and Britt chipped in with a 2-run single. Dawson and Sedio now share the Prospect League in home runs with five each, and Dawson leads the league in RBIs with 22. The win gives Chillicothe a 3-game lead over Butler and West Virginia in the PL Eastern Div. first-half race.
