PALO ALTO COULD VERY WELL BE THE PEANUT BUTTER CLUB SANDWICH - TopicsExpress

PALO ALTO COULD VERY WELL BE THE PEANUT BUTTER CLUB SANDWICH CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. Click LIKE if a Costas Peanut Butter Club Sandwich brings back fond memories. Gus & Mary Costas founded Costas Candy in 1922. Down through the decades their famous peanut butter club sandwich found its way into farmers markets & hundreds of mom & pop stores throughout the coal region. Those club sandwiches were fabulous fundraisers for schools, churches, youth groups, & other non-profits. Costas club sandwiches were almost as popular as Tastycakes in school & work lunches boxes back in the day. Some say those club sandwiches could have been the forerunners of todays energy bars. And it all started in Palo Alto over 90 years ago. In 1966, Costas Candy became a subsidiary of York Barbell Company & was called Costas-York Candy. On February 14, 2003, the company was bought out by Robert Stahl & was renamed Costas Food Inc. Owners have changed down through the decades, but for over 90 years the name Costas has always been there. You can still find those club sandwiches today on store shelves & they are still used for fundraising projects. Todays post is a followup on the previous Penny Candy post that was, thanks to you, our most popular ever with our fans. Thank You!
