PAM Report - The 1st Live-export ship to leave Port Adelaide in 2014 SHIP: The Maysora, (Exporter-LSS) ANIMALS: Sheep and cattle ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES: Depart Adelaide – 11th Feb 2014 Arrive Doha in Qatar – Approx 4th Mar 2014 TOTAL JOURNEY TIME FOR ANIMALS: – 3 weeks PARTICULAR CONCERNS REGARDING THIS SHIPLOAD OF ANIMALS: i. The exporter for this ship, LSS, is under investigation for serious alleged breaches concerning their previous ship loads of animals – yet LSS was granted another permit to take these animals! ii. Sheep and cattle were loaded during Adelaide’s end of summer heatwave (40 degrees), increasing their risk of suffering serious heat stress illnesses. After the 3 week journey they arrived in Qatars’ end of winter (approx 17 to 27 degrees). iii. Misuse of goads on sheep during loading in Adelaide (flapper turned backwards to jab sheep with the hard end during loading. Only the soft bag end should be in contact with animals). STATE ANIMAL WELFARE REGULATOR ATTENDANCE AT PORT (RSPCA)? - Yes, for the majority of the animal loading P.A.M. ATTENDANCE AT PORT? – Yes, for the majority of the animal loading ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN: • Information compiled to be used in current formal complaints and various future communications. PAM reports form an ongoing record of the ‘Live Export- Ships of Suffering’ leaving our Port Adelaide. Despite overwhelming evidence of cruelty and huge public opposition, the Australian Government allows this shameful trade to continue! Not in our Name! Not in our Port!
