PANCHKULA-A PLANNED CITY Panchkula stands as a planned city in the entire Haryana. It is also termed as satellite city in tri city which shares unified border with Mohali district in Punjab. The significant Chandimandir Cantonment Headquarters of the Indian Army Western Command is also situated in Panchkula adjoining the Panchkula Urban Estate. Five towns in the Panchkula district are Pinjore, Kalka, Barwala, Panchkula and Raipur Rani. A number of hill stations nearby Panchkula are Kalka, Pinjore, Kasauli, Shimla, Barog, Chail, Morni, Nahan and Dagshai. Panchkula city is the headquarters of Haryana. A large number of schools, colleges, hotels, theaters make it distinct among tri city. West of Chandigarh is the new urban estate of Panchkula. In fact flyovers recently raised in Panchkula, contributed to the easy flow of traffic. A large area south of old Panchkula between Ambala-Kalka national highway and the Ghaggar River has been developed for recreation. The area has a golf course, and a sports complex, named Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex has been popular due to the ICL cricket Tournaments. North of Chandimandir are hills and Pinjore as well as Kalka, due west of Pinjore is the industrial area of Baddi. HMT factory is in Pinjore and an ancillary industrial estate of HMT with built-up sheds has been established. Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL-A government of India Enterprise) was set up on approximately 58 acres (230,000 m2) of land in Panchkula Industrial Area and today employs a large work force.
