PAPAKURA NETBALL CENTRE REGIONAL PREMIER LEAGUE MEDIA RELEASE – 21ST JUNE 2013 Round 3 of the Plate Round took place on Friday night, across the 3 venues Rosehill College, Netball Manurewa, Strathallan College. Division 1 Results: Aztec 1 took on competition leaders Howick United at Rosehill College this week. Howick led all the way, Aztec matching Howick in the first 3 quarters of the game, but losing momentum and team cohesion in the last quarter. Howick showed their class and confidence, eventually taking the game by 16 points. Aztec Coach Winnie Hauraki commended Howick’s performance “Howick has some great senior players who have been around the game for a while, and that experience and confidence was the telling tale in this game. By contrast, Aztec’s young team struggled to have belief and confidence in themselves to take this game. I’m very pleased with the progress our team is making each week, Lane Kerr (WA), Danni Steffany (GS) and Shanna Coetzee (WD) the stand out performers for Aztec this week”. Howick United 65 – Aztec 49 Marlins Platinum played Aztec 2 at Netball Manurewa this week, Aztec losing 45 - 58. Marlins had a strong 4th quarter to pull away from Aztec 2 in an otherwise close game. Marlins Manager Tracy Stowers named Amiria Tuoro as their star performer this week. Papatoetoe Rangers continued their good form beating Timbertown Shelly Park 57 – 38 at Strathallan College. Division 2 Results: Mellons Bay 1 took on Conifer Grove Platinum at Netball Manurewa, losing 32 - 53. Mellons Bay Manager Karen Booth reporting a very slow start to the game by Mellons Bay which they were never able to recover from. CG Platinum kept Mellons under pressure for the entire four quarters, which put Mellons in chase mode all game. Mellons Bay Angelique Lategan and CG Platinum GD Sherry Elekana cited by Karen as this week’s outstanding performers. Hunua Platinum played Revelation Titans at Strathallan College. Revalation Titans narrowly winning a tightly contested game 51 – 48. Manurewa Gold faced Bombay Premiers at Rosehill College and were outclassed by the Pukekohe Netball Centre based Bombay 58 – 33.
