PARANORMAL PHENOMENON OF ORBS By Jeremie Anton Buchberger, Founder and Lead Investigator of Pandemonium Paranormal If there is ONE subject that split the Paranormal World in half and that is extremely controversial not only in the Paranormal Community but within the Scientific Community as well, it is the subject of Orbs. But before getting into the controversial part of it, lets start with some background information. Orbs, or more commonly known as Ball of Lights , describes unexpected, typically circular artifacts that occur in flash photography—sometimes with trails indicating motion—especially common with modern compact and ultra-compact digital cameras. One of the main reason why Orbs are so subject to controversy is the fact that there is a perfectly valid Scientific explanation for them. Orbs are usually captured during Low Light Camera settings, such as at night or underwater. When the distance between the Lens and the Built-In Flash is too short, it decreases the angle of Light Reflection to the Lens, causing the particles in front of the lens to reflect the Light created by the Flash. This is a very common but absolutely legitimate scientific explanation for the phenomenon. We, as Pandemonium Paranormal, confirms the relevance of this fact and as far as our experience goes, 95% of Orbs are indeed reflections and abide to this Physic Phenomenon. That means that the remaining 5% are harder to explain. At Pandemonium Paranormal, we learnt from experience that another thesis has to be explored to try to explain these orbs, a thesis which links Science and Paranormal. Our Theory is that some orbs are not light reflection but some form of energy. We know from Einstein Theories that Energy can neither be created or destroyed. Many of the detractors of the Paranormal, in order to contest this theory, simply state that this Law does not apply. Having read the Theory and various papers on the Theory, I did not find any indication by Einstein of Exclusions to this Theory. However, it seems that the Opposers to the Paranormal Application of this Theory know better than Einstein himself as they impose their own restrictions. Funny to see how they are the ones accusing us of manipulating Scientific facts. This bring the question of the Human Body: the Law of Conservation of Energy applies to closed system. Can the Human Body be considered a Closed System ? If we consider the Human Body of a Living person, the answer is no. The Human Body does interact with its surroundings . Various inputs such as oxygen, food, and water are inputs whereas waste and carbon dioxide are outputs. However, when we look at Ghosts, we have to realize that we deal with dead people, and not living organism. Therefore, we do have to consider the Human Body not as made of flesh and bones, exchanging Heat, water and food with its surroundings but simple bones or dust, having no interaction ( of food, heat or water ) with its surroundings. It is then that we can consider it a closed system. The Law of Conservation of Energy can then apply. Another element to consider when analyzing Orbs is the Trajectory. Dust will have a regular and rational trajectory, usually ascending or descending, depending on if it is affected by a source of Air Flow. It would not go against the flow, or suddenly change direction without the necessity of an air flow. If you see an orb that abruptly changes its path for no apparent reason, check deeper into it. Check also shape of the Orb. Orbs caused by Dust, Bugs or Light Reflections will have a Circle or Spherical shape and be ( almost ) translucid. Look for Orbs that would have a Tail, indicating Momentum and therefore Energy. We also know, from Physics Rules, that Energy will tend to shape itself in the easiest geometric form, which is the sphere, as it is a perfectly symmetrical form with no edges or corners, thus less resistance to any force which could apply to it, and has the smallest surface for a given volume. A Sphere of Energy would be the easiest form of Energy for Spirits to manifest themselves as well as to move from one spot to another. We also believe, again based on Physics that the smallest the form is, the least energy it uses to move. That is why orbs are more common than full bodied apparitions, as it requires less energy. WHAT WE RECOMMEND : Always Always take 2 shots of each pictures the one right after the other. If it is a bug or dust on your lens, it should appear on both pictures and you can debunk it. If you have something that appear on one picture but not on the second one taken few milliseconds after the first one, then take a closer look. Very often, non-paranormal orbs will appear as Static Circle. Look for Moving or in movement orbs for Paranormal possibilities. A Tail is a good indication of movement for Orbs. Always study the Picture before claiming it is a ghost - Always be careful. It is always better to disregard a picture than to claim a non-paranormal picture is a ghost. Never assume an Orb is something paranormal. Check all possible rational explanations before turning towards Paranormal reasons behind Orbs. Never use an Orb as the first and only reason to call a place haunted. Orbs are not a First hand proof than can be used on their own. Remember : Most Orbs are not Paranormal and are nothing more than Dust, bugs or Light reflections. Never assume. The Will to debunk a Paranormal claim is the best method to avoid false identification of evidence We hope that this Basic Info could help you.
