PARENT UPDATE AND INFORMATION LETTER A warm greetings from Maple Leaf. Maple leaf follows a structured theme based curriculum. The Theme of the month for August is Transport We are have exciting activities, crafts and games based on the Transport. The theme will be introduced to the child through various activities which awareness about the Modes of transport which we use in Our Daily lives. Cognitive development: Information and concepts based on modes of transport involves learning shapes, colours, sizes and the basic shape which starts with a circle and the wheel being the most commonly know. Square and rectangles are the other two shapes which are used to draw any vehicle. Language development: Nursery rhymes based on transport helps them increase their vocabulary and general knowledge about different vehicles so they can easily identify and learn simultaneously. Social Development: Most of the children in their immediate environment co-relate with transport as they have taken a ride on their parents vehicle or come to school by some means of transport. They develop friends when they come in the same bus or are driven by their parents. Moral Development: Traffic rules and traffic lights rhymes do tell them that they need to follow certain disciplinary ways which could be learned through play way now and hence laying a base for making them better citizen for the future. Special Days: August 5th : Colouring based on the transport theme. August 9th: Transport Mela (Bring your own favourite toy) August 14th: Tri-coloured dress or traditional dress Independence Day celebration August 23rd : Raksha Bandhan (craft based on raksha bandhan) August 28th : Janmashtami (Need to dress up like Krishna and Gopies/Traditional wear)
