PARENTS AS TEACHERS PROGRAM PARENT EDUCATOR - West Side of Charleston JOB DESCRIPTION E-MAIL RESUME AND COVER LETTER TO DIANE AT [email protected] MISSION STATEMENT: To provide all parents with research based information, guidance assistance and family support to foster optimal development of young children. PARENT EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES TO CHILDREN AND FAMILIES: 1. Recruit and provide family support utilizing the PAT curriculum in the form of home visits or center visits (in special circumstances only) to a minimum of five (5) families and a maximum of 60 families monthly. The Program Administrator with regard to hours of employment and other program responsibilities will make this determination. 2. Organize, plan and facilitate regular playgroups and parent group meetings at the designated location. 3. Conduct developmental screenings annually on all children enrolled in the PAT 4. Provide immediate Information & Referral services to children and families when 5. Maintain confidentiality of children and families served. 6. Implement services according to the PAT Program Policies and Procedures. 7. Exercise sensitivity to diversity. 8. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED and two years previous supervised experience working with children and/or parents; bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or social work is preferred. PARENT EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES TO PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION: 1. Maintain accurate and complete record documentation to provide program data. 2. Attend and actively participate in required staff meetings and training sessions. 3. Share skills, knowledge, materials and resources with colleagues. 4. Comply with the UKVEC policies regarding job attendance. 5. Deal with conflict in an appropriate manner to maintain the integrity of the PAT 6. Participate in program presentations to general public, professional groups and community events. 7. Value the leadership provided by the program in the decision making process. 8. Promote the Parents as Teachers Program at every opportunity. 9. Attend meetings as assigned. 10. Seek partners for collaborative projects. 11. Maintain Parents as Teachers Program Certification. 12. Other duties as assigned. The Parent Educator must have at least a high school diploma or equivalency. The position of a parent educator is grant funded and may be renewable from year to year. The Parent Educator will be paid based on education and experience up to $12.00 an As a Parent Educator, I recognize the above listed responsibilities and their identification as objectives in the Parents as Teachers Work plan. I will do my best to accomplish these between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015.
