PARENTS DEMAND Dear parents, we have entered the second week of our children not going to school. In this entire situation, we have kept quiet as parents. Are we not the number one friends and advocates for our children? We are losing out and we must feel ashamed before our dear children. They will no longer trust and confide in us if we don’t show up to their cause. I don’t know the kind of conversations we parents are having with children in our homes. Are children not asking questions about this? What answers are we giving them? So, what can we do? Let us declare one day a “Parents Demand Day” where all parents in every district can show up to the concerned offices like RDC office, CAO, DEO, Chairman to demand for an action by government that can save the situation. When? I would propose next Monday if the situation remains the same. I mean, if the teachers remain on strike, government doesn’t take action and our local leaders (at District level) remain silent. How? Parents meet in one place (about 1000 Parents) and write a “Parents Demand Note” and they all sign it. Then walk with it through the district town and hand it over to the offices named above. They should notify the police and I think police would guide them in this action and they will not be considered as a violent group. Please, if you think of any other action than this which parents can take to save the situation, share with us.
