PARENTS SHOULD MAKE THE BEST TEACHERS - Clifford C Marcussen It has been demonstrated that a childs mental and physical development during his first six years of life will have a great influence on his next sixty years. Yet, many parents are unaware of the importance of personally educating and developing their children at home. Five years ago a United States government study revealed a startling fact about your childs education: The major factor determining your childs success in school is not the teachers experience, the principals training, classroom size, quality of textbook or other related school-centered element. The study was called, Equality of Educational Opportunity. It was first commissioned as part of the civil rights legislation of 1964. The results were surprising and highly informative. Variations in the facilities and curriculums of the schools, the study concluded, account for relatively little variation in pupil achievement.
