ORourke explains why God is a Republican, or a Conservative, while Santa Claus is a Democrat or what some would refer to as a grow-the-government kind of guy... Heres a brief paraphrase of what he said: I have only one firm belief about the... political system, and that is this: God is a Republican. Santa Claus is a Democrat. God is an elderly or, at any rate, middle aged male.... patriarchal rather than paternal and a great believer in rules... He holds people accountable for their actions... Santa Claus is another matter. Hes cute. Hes nonthreatening... He may know whos been naughty and whos been nice, but he never does anything about it. He loves animals. He gives everyone everything they want... Santa Claus is preferable to God in every way but one:... There is no such thing as Santa Claus. --------------------------------- Some will know that in the U.S., the Republican Party is depicted as an elephant while the Democratic Party is depicted as a donkey. The attached video is 21 seconds long. It is Al Sharpton speaking at the Democratic Convention, explaining that while its true the Republican Party under Lincoln was responsible for ending slavery in the United States, and implementing what was called emancipation, because the Republican government never gave everyone 40 acres and a free mule, these people therefore had to all become Democrats.
