PARLIAMENT: PROPOSAL TO AMEND SME BILL -------------------------------------------------- Pyithu Hluttaw People’s Parliament continued in Nay Pyi Taw Tuesday. Hluttaw representatives raised questions on scrutinizing process for tar import, assistance of international universities for upgrading Yangon University, and taking action to some authorities who didn’t follow rules in tackling cases on confiscation of farmlands and other lands. Concerning land confiscation, Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Kyaw Zan Myint explained that 8 meetings have been held by the Land Management Central Committee led by the Vice President to tackle land grabbing issues. Land Management Associations in ward and village level are also formed to address the issues in the ground. If any unfair cases found out, complaints can be made. Representatives also asked on work implementation of the traffic police and the police force. Maj-Gen Kyaw Zan Myint said that the list of culprits and arresting forms have already been distributed to the police stations across the country Although over 6,000 culprits have been arrested until 2014, over 11,000 remain to be on the loose. The session also discussed the amendment proposal on the SME Development Bill. At Amyotha Hluttaw National Parliament, officials answered the queries on upgrading infrastructure in healthcare, water supply, and roads. The session accepted the Bill Amending the Seed Law sent by Pyithu Hluttaw. A report on the Bill Amending the Restriction of Movement and Probation of Habitual Offenders Law 1961 was presented. Proposal on cultivating yam in States and Regions and drafting plan for export was also submitted.
