PART 2 of 2: The reason I could not share the news with everyone - TopicsExpress

PART 2 of 2: The reason I could not share the news with everyone yesterday is because I ran out of time. I called as many as I could… You see the Lord took mom home on the day we were expecting family from Don’s side to come into town to celebrate the life of his cousin, Mary Healy. She had been the Director of the Sacramento Zoo the last 15 years. As Don and I were driving to the zoo where the celebration of life was to take place, the song, Beyond the Sunset, started playing on the radio. It was a favorite of Mom’s back in the day. This rendition is sung by Red Foley with lyrics that speak to me. I remember hearing Red Foley and others on the radio on a Saturday night in Cheyenne. I was a little girl and my mom would pin my hair up in pin curls on a Saturday so she could coax out those Shirley Temple curls for Sunday school the next morning. We didn’t have a TV yet, thus the radio -- youtube/watch?v=DWhZLDzq2as You need to listen to the words of this amazing song and the incredible poem Red also interjects because it is so perfect for that moment, for this time of mom’s passing. Don’s brother, Dick, and Joell stayed overnight with us after the memorial. They left a while ago so now I’m trying to gather my thoughts and let you know about mom if you have not yet heard. It is fitting that I’m sending this out on a Sunday. I think Sunday was mom’s favorite day because she loved to be in her other earthly home on Sundays, God’s house. Mom is spending her first Sunday in heaven. This leads me to one more thing that I want to share with you. Last night after returning from Mary’s memorial, Joell and I went out to our patio and sat in the swing and just enjoyed the beauty of the night and talked about family and mom, etc. In the distance were a few flashes of lightening but no thunder. I then told Joell how terrified I was of thunder and lightning when I was about three years old, when we lived in Fargo, North Dakota. That my mom told me I shouldn’t be afraid. The angels were getting ready for a big banquet, a party. The thunder was just the noise of them moving the tables and chairs in heaven in preparation. After that I loved to see the lightening and hear the thunder – who doesn’t love a party especially in heaven? The air got cooler and there were more lightning flashes now and again and a faint peal of thunder. It subsided for a time and then started up again and got closer. It even sprinkled a couple of times. It was 11:30 p.m. and we decided to go out to the front of the house to get a better view and we did. Pretty soon there were flashes high and low in the distance lighting up the sky and peals of thunder (no rain on us). Suddenly we both looked at each and laughed. My mom was up there now and those angels were busy getting ready for a really big party! You can’t appreciate this moment unless you know we seldom have thunder and lightning here, it had been sunny all day and no trace of rain had been forecast. This was how I ended my day, my mom safely in the arms of Jesus in heaven. Beyond the sunset, a hand will guide me To God the Father whom I adore His glorious presence, His words of welcome Will be my portion on that fair shore. Love, Charleen
