PART 5 . . . . GODS ATTITUDE TOWARDS MURMURING AND COMPLAINING ….. Presented by Betty Hadden . . . . December 21, 2014 1 Cor. 10:1-13 1 Cor 10:1 FOR I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, that our forefathers were all under {and} protected by the cloud [in which Gods Presence went before them], and every one of them passed safely through the [Red] Sea, 1 Cor 10:2 And each one of them [allowed himself also] to be baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea [they were thus brought under obligation to the Law, to Moses, and to the covenant, consecrated and set apart to the service of God]; 1 Cor 10:3 And all [of them] ate the same spiritual (supernaturally given) food, 1 Cor 10:4 And they all drank the same spiritual (supernaturally given) drink. For they drank from a spiritual Rock which followed them [produced by the sole power of God Himself without natural instrumentality], and the Rock was Christ. 1 Cor 10:5 Nevertheless, God was not pleased with the great majority of them, for they were overthrown {and} strewn down along [the ground] in the wilderness. 1 Cor 10:6 Now these things are examples (warnings and admonitions) for us not to desire {or} crave {or} covet {or} lust after evil {and} carnal things as they did. 1 Cor 10:7 Do not be worshipers of false gods as some of them were, as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink [the sacrifices offered to the golden calf at Horeb] and rose to sport (to dance and give way to jesting and hilarity). 1 Cor 10:8 We must not gratify evil desire {and} indulge in immorality as some of them did--and twenty-three thousand [suddenly] fell {dead} in a single day! 1 Cor 10:9 We should not tempt the Lord [try His patience, become a trial to Him, critically appraise Him, and exploit His goodness] as some of them did--and were killed by poisonous serpents; 1 Cor 10:10 Nor discontentedly complain as some of them did--and were put out of the way entirely by the destroyer (death). I’ve shared with you both Old Testament and New Testament Scriptures which reveal the same thing . . . blessings for those who do believe and curses on those who don’t!!! We used to say years ago, “believe and receive, doubt and do without.” Which one are you? Num. 14:36-37 Num 14:36 And the men whom Moses sent to search the land, who returned and made all the congregation grumble {and} complain against him by bringing back a slanderous report of the land, Num 14:37 Even those men who brought the evil report of the land died by a plague before the Lord. Jude 1:5 Now I want to remind you, though you were fully informed once for all, that though the Lord [at one time] delivered a people out of the land of Egypt, He subsequently destroyed those [of them] who did not believe [who refused to adhere to, trust in, and rely upon Him]. Num. 14:38-45 Years ago, the Lord led me to a book written by Kenneth E. Hagin’s daughter (Pat). I had learned from and been ministered to so very many of Kenneth E. Hagin’s books. I’d seen and experienced the things he shared and saw the same truths being manifested in my life because I chose to believe God’s word in the same way and experienced the same successes. So, when I came across this book, I was impressed by the Holy Spirit to photo copy what follows and put it in a notebook that I was led to go to times w/o number to feast on and obey the truths I was being reminded of through what she learned from God and from her Dad: He has been ministering this wisdom to me ever since. In learning to be led by the Holy Spirit, you also might want to receive instruction from this “for those that are led by the Spirit of God are the Sons of God”: “What, How, Why and When? “When God reveals things to us through intercessory prayer or through just praying in the Spirit for ourselves, we need to seek him further about the revelation that He gives us to make sure we understand it clearly and to make sure we understand these four points: what, how, why and when. “So often, rather than seeking God and asking Him what He meant, then following what He tells us so that the Holy Spirit can be working with us, we try to do something within ourselves. ‘Well, this is what God said, and I’m going to do it,’ we say. If we do not do something by and with the Spirit of God in His timing, it will be our own doing, and it will fail. We need to recognize the Spirit of God in these things and be able to discern whether they are or are not God. (My note: We need to spend enough time with the Lord so we learn to recognize His leading.) “Many times we know what, how and why, but not when. Therefore, we move out too quickly and everything gets scrambled. And trying to unscramble the situation ourselves is like trying to unscramble scrambled eggs. Once they are scrambled, they are scrambled! “It is difficult to get everything straightened out as it should be. But because of God’s mercy, grace and truth, eventually, we get ourselves back in line with the Spirit Who can unscramble everything. In prayer, we need to ask God for the timing of the season to keep us out of trouble! Rest in God or Take Action? “There is a fine line in ministry and in our own lives between the times God wants us to do nothing but wait, rest in Him, and simply let Him bring something to pass, and the times when God wants us to get up, push and play a part in bringing things to pass. We need to be able to discern the difference in our own spirits. “After we walk with God for a while and let Him work with us, we will be able to learn the way that the Spirit deals with us and will be able to discern the difference. We will learn to rest in Him so that we are able to clearly hear His voice and know whether to rest in Him in that particular situation or to take action. We will be able to discern what God wants us to do and when and how. We will learn how not to jump to conclusions. “The ministry is God’s, not ours. We must take the time to learn the way of the Holy Spirit, letting ourselves develop spiritually so that we do not think and do things on our own, but instead follow the Spirit’s way of thinking and doing. Then we must walk in His timing.” There have been so many times that I have “presumed” that I was to do what I believed He was telling me and gotten into so much trouble and anguish of heart, crying bitterly because it didn’t work out until I learned by practice to wait on Him, to learn to have spiritual eyes that perceive Him showing me as He did Jesus (John 5:19 Amp. Vers.) not just what He wanted me to do but when! I learned by hard mistakes that we are to imitate Jesus as Jesus imitated the Father. I had to learn the hard way to wait on Him expectantly as Jesus did before acting, so I could say as He said, “It is God in Me. He doeth the works”!!! So in no way could I boast of myself but only of Him who does His works through me! All the glory and praise go to Him. (John 5:30, Amp. Version . . . so important) [more to come]
