PART ONE A SPECIAL FEATURE ON THE MANDINGO ETHNIC GROUP According to history the mandingo ethic group travelled from MALI in pursue of better living. The mandingos are found in many African countries as well as the united states of America. In Liberia they are refer to as KONEYANKA whereas in guinea and other and other country they refer to them as MANDINKA. In Ivory coast they are refer to as JULA. THE MANDINGOS are the founding father of Mali. The first legendary hero of the mandingos dynasty, who built Mali into a strong empire was SUNDIATA KIETA which was later followed by his nephew MANSA MUSA(1312-1337) he was a devout mandingo who turned Mali into a Muslim empire. At the end mansa musa rule, living standard eroded and force them to migrate to other country in Africa. Those who migrated in Liberia between 1500-1600 settle in BOPOLU on the west coast and the hinterland which later became part of Liberia. The olden day rivalries amongst religion fathers gave birth to the foreign label and the number of other labels that exist today. As the Muslims were regarded as foreigners by the Christians, and on the other hand the Christians were also regarded as foreigners by the Muslim, the dominant religion which was the African traditional belief considered both religion as foreigners because they were imported religion and those who introduced them were called foreigners. In short the Muslims and the Christians hold no right because they are imported religion and those who introduced them are foreigners.
