PARTING SHOT... Another Senate race was decided late last week. In Alaska, Republican challenger Dan Sullivan beat out incumbent freshman Senator Mark Begich, giving Republicans 53 seats in the Senate to 46 held by Democrats – with one seat undecided. Still to go is Louisiana, where incumbent Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu is locked in a runoff with Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy, which will be decided on December 5. And here’s what I find absolutely disgusting. With one more seat on the line, one of their own, a good Senator who’s fought hard for her home state, what are Democrats doing for Mary Landrieu? They’ve thrown her under the bus. The Democratic Senate Campaign Committee said they’re spending no more money in Louisiana. They’ve given up. They’re walking away without a fight because, they say – She can’t win, and one more seat won’t make any difference, anyway. Wrong and wrong. Mary Landrieu’s a great campaigner with a golden name. She could win. And every Senate seat matters when you’re counting votes. One thing for sure: Republicans would never do this to one of their own. Only spineless Democrats would.
