PAST PERFORMANCE IS THE BEST PREDICTOR OF FUTURE ACTIONS ...: NSNews) - I am not playing Fantasy Football, said Rep.-Elect Ken Buck (R-Colo.). I am playing an important game, and I have to choose between Nancy Pelosi and John Boehner. If there was a viable candidate that was more conservative, I would take a serious look at that. There is not a viable candidate out there at this point, and I am voting for John Boehner (for House Speaker) when the vote comes up. Buck told CSPANs Washington Journal Tuesday morning that if the effort to replace Boehner were serious, it would have happened when Republicans gathered after the November election. The last-minute decision by Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) to run against Boeher for the speakership is a very well-intended effort, but it has minimal support...and I dont think its the right way to go. Buck said hes received messages from many of his constituents who care very deeply about this country and are very, very concerned about the debt and the regulatory burden and the other burdens that have been placed on us by the Obama administration, by the federal government. They want to see action, and they want to see a leader who is willing to take risks and make sure that this country gets back on the right track. They have concerns about John Boehner. I have concerns about John Boehner. That doesnt mean that hes not the best person for the job at this point in time. And Im going to do my very best to help him develop the conservative policies that we need in this country. Buck, a former federal prosecutor, said he ran for Congress because he wants to reduce the budget, create jobs, develop a strong energy policy and fix the immigration problem. Im not here to cast a meaningless vote in some sort of protest. I want to work with people and solve problems, he said. Weve got a number of great issues facing our country, and we need to make sure that were doing our very best to deal with those issues. Its a matter of working within our party and its a matter of working with the other party to solve those problems. Buck was critical of President Obamas partisan behavior over the past six years, and he said he doesnt expect that to change in the next two years. I think the president set the tone for what he wants to do with this Congress in the next two years when he issued an executive order on immigration. He slapped this Congress in the face. I think this Congress is above that. I dont think were going to go stoop down to his level. I think we will stay at a level -- professional level and solve problems and pass bills that are in the best interests of this country. ----------------------- THE WAY I SEE IT, CONGRESSMAN ELECT BUCK, YOU BECAME ONE OF THE 216 WHO SAY ONE THING AND DO ANOTHER. I AM NOT AT ALL SURE WHAT YOUR IDEA OF “PROGRESS” IS, BUT THERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW: (1) U.S. ENERGY POLICY WILL HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE PRICE SAUDI ARABIA CHARGES FOR OIL. IT COULD DROP BELOW $30 AND THE SAUDIS WOULD STILL MAKE MONEY WHILE WE GO BROKE. (2) REDUCING A BUDGET BLOATED WITH WELFARE AT A TIME WITH FEW GOOD JOBS ARE GOING TO BE DIFFICULT. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU CONSIDER CUTTING OFF ALL COMPENSATION TO THE 535 MEMBERS OF CONGRESS, INCLUDING “RETIREMENT” TO ALL FORMER MEMBERS. YOU WANT TO CUT A BUDGET? CUT YOUR OWN, FIRST. (3) “FIX” IMMIGRATION? IT WASN’T BROKEN TO BEGIN WITH. THE ONLY “FIX” YOU NEED IS TO GET A CHIEF EXECUTIVE WHO UNDERSTANDS ENFORCING THE EXISTING LAW IS NOT OPTIONAL OR DISCRETIONARY. PERHAPS AFTER YOU CUT YOUR OWN SALARY TO ZERO YOU COULD START WORKING ON IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS. THEN AGAIN, YOU COULD JOING THE DISGUSTINGLY LARGE GROUP OF RINOs WHO GO ALONG TO GET ALONG. BETWEEN YOU, ME AND THE GATEPOST THE LAST OUTCOME SEEMS THE MOST LIKELY.
