PATRIOTISM. Most Kenyans do exhibit unpatriotic tendencies due to the erroneous belief that the nations leadership is synonymous with the Republic. This is a false presumption as leaders come and go but the Republic will remain. The former DIG, Michael Gichagi, gave a true and actionable brief to the current leadership and he paid for it by being forced to resign. One needs to understand that intelligence officers are required to provide factual information whether it is palatable to the regime or not. Lack thereof will lead to a Nigeria-like scenario where Boko Haram steadily grew their military capacity as the government refused to heed warnings from the intelligence community that Boko Haram is rearming for a large-scale uprising. The results is there for everyone to see. Therefore, the NIS will provide the government with both the good and bad reports of what is going on in the nation.
