PATS/PANTHERS - All I can say is good luck to all of the Pats 2014 opponents in trying to stop 3rd year DE Chandler Jones. This guy is an absolute beast! Of course, the fact that the much improved secondary gives the pass rush more time to develop doesnt hurt any. If the defense continues to play like it did last night, this team is a serious contender. Highly touted QB Cam Newton was pretty much rendered useless by the relentless pressure. Reminds me a lot of those winning SB defenses. :-)...2nd year LB Steve Beauharnais didnt hurt his case for making the team with a great goal line INT, and S Duron Harmon made his statement for the starting position next to McCourty with a huge 2nd half hit....Watched big Vince quite a bit last night, and he actually looked quicker than ever on a couple of inside bull rushes. Thats a great sign!....With Mayo out, I noticed that 2nd year LB Jamie Collins was calling the defensive signals. This guy is destined for All Pro status....Is there a more steady and consistent performer on defense that DE Rob Ninkovich? Hes the consummate pro...Was surprised to see that Panther rookie WR Kelvin Benjamin had some success on Revis Island. He could be a player to keep in mind in your fantasy drafts. :-)...Dont want to pour cold water on a great night, but I must say that I have not been overly impressed with newly acquired CB Brandon Browner. He was beaten long again last night, and I just think that both Dennard and undrafted rookie Malcolm Butler have outplayed him to date. Of course, he wont be available to Week #5 because of his league suspension...This is supposed to be a post on the defense, but just a quick note on the offense. Ive touted 2nd year WR Josh Boyce several times on this page as a player to watch this season. Looks like I was wrong on this one. He didnt play much last night, and didnt catch a pass. He looks like a long shot to make the 53 man roster at this point...Two weeks to Miami!
