PAYTON UPDATE: Payton is chest tube free! Over the last couple days they havent drained any fluid so theyve decided to pull them. Always the possibility she could have more put in if any of her xrays show fluid reaccumulating. So for now she doesnt need the other surgery to fix the fluid draining, that kind of took care of itself. Im so thankful the doctors waited as long as they did instead of jumping right into another surgery. As far as her respiratory support goes, shes still on the cpap ventilator. They tried taking her off of it yesterday but she started to breathe rapidly so they just put her back on it. Her morning xray showed patches of collapse and they think that may have contributed to it. So the goal for today was to work on the patches and let her rest. Will try taking it off again tomorrow and see how she does. Once she doesnt require so much respiratory support then we can think about leaving the ICU. Shes completely off of her morphine and ativan but will show signs of withdrawal at times. Hoping they can get her through it just on the methadone and valium. She finally tested negative for her rhino virus so we dont have to gown up anymore to go into her room. And hopefully this cold has ran its course and shes finally getting over it. The last few days shes shown quite a bit of improvement. Tonight Payton got to sit in a bouncy chair for the first time. She did great and slept pretty much the entire time. Shes really starting to seem like the normal baby I thought I would have. And then after her little nap she was wide awake. Rex and I enjoyed seeing her smile and playing with her. It definitely made our night! She is certainly our entire world! So slow and steady is the pace. My hope is to be home by Halloween. The doctors say thats a realistic hope with they way she is progressing! #superpayton #nothingbutsmiles
