My husband and I own and operate M/C ARENA in Moss Bluff (Ocklawaha), Florida. Our primary rodeo event we run is barrel racing. Almost two years ago, Tina Spangler approached us about a business venture that she was creating. That business venture was and is the Professional Barrel Racers Association (PBRA). Tina was seeking arenas to become hosts for her new venture. The PBRA is designed to be a ‘sidepot’ which runs within a host jackpot show. The cost to run is reasonable, $20.00. We were very interested in this idea as we strive to give our competitors as much opportunity to “take home cash” as possible. A competitor, who signs up for the PBRA sidepot, must also sign up for the host arena’s jackpot barrels. This was a win-win situation for both the PBRA and the host arenas. We agreed and became one of Tina’s first host arenas. As a host arena, we were in charge of signing up the PBRA riders as well as our own, writing the carry-over times on the PBRA cards, and mailing Tina the cards and a check for her portion of the entry fees. (Arenas make money on the PBRA entries, too.) Tina takes care of the points and payouts. I want to say that the PBRA is a very well run organization and has been an awesome event to offer our competitors. I also barrel race and try to enter the PBRA whenever I can. The payouts are the same for everyone who ran and placed with the PBRA at each individual arena. Tina is a great business owner. She keeps her members and hosts informed about shows, sponsors, events, and any changes that may occur. We will continue to be a host for the PBRA as long as Tina Spangler is the owner and would like us to continue. Sincerely, Cathy Martin M/C ARENA
