PC/E/09/JULY 20/2013 BETWEEN: MRS NNEKA OGU …………………………………………………………CLAIMANT VS MR & MRS SIMEON OGBODO …………………………………..... DEFENDANTS 1. FACTS OF CLAIMANT: My name is Mrs Nneka Ogu a widow , my husband died in a ghastly car accident in june 2011 and since then life has been very difficult for me and my seven children . Because of the hardship , I gave my daughter chisom ogu who is 8 years old to mr &mrs ogbodo as a house help and to help me train her in school . On may 25th being Saturday , a car dropped my daughter in front of our yard and zoomed off, she came in with serious bruises all over her body , her , I was shocked and I asked her who dropped her she said it was her madam , that she said she should go and die in her mother’s house. I asked her what she did , she said their neighbor gave her biscuit , I doubted it because of the degree of bruises. I took her back to mr & mrs ogbodo’s house in new haven . The woman on seeing me , started shouting if I came to fight her , I said no that I only came to find out what my daughter did that caused this type of beating . she said I should never cross-examine her , that I should ask my daughter if they have been starving her , if not why should she collect something from her enemy . I asked her if my daughter have done such before the beating , she asked me to leave her house , that I don’t have such right to question her . I cried and left with my daughter. Two (2) days later she became seriously sick that only God saved her life. I borrowed money to pay for her treatment and hospital bills. 2. THE CLAIMANT’S CLAIM AS FOLLOWS : That mr & mrs ogbodo should refund me the money I borrowed for my daughter’s treatment which is N3500.00(three thousand five hundred naira) . VERDICT OF PEOPLE’S COURT 1. FORUM JUDGE: MR EKWUEME MAGNUS SUNDAY The child was given with the intention of the child being trained in school. Child Molestation which was firmly confirmed and it is an offense punishable by law. A child of 8 years should not be thought how to be making enmity with neighbors. Therefore ,they should pay the amount as claimed by the claimant Mrs Nneka Ogu. 2. FROM THE JURY: The action of mr and mrs ogbodo’s action and said their own side of the story is needed but Blessing in Nsukka suggested that Donations be made to support mrs Ogu 3. FINAL VERDICT (FROM THE FORUM JUDGE AND THE ENTIRE PUUBLIC/JURY): No jugdement on mr and mrs ogbodo yet till their own said of the story is heard.
