They dedicate their time in improving your skin. Recently, I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Jennifer Linder and Dr. Ivana Veljkovic about this amazing brand. Here is what they had to say... (Q) Hello Dr. Linder and Dr. Veljkovic. How are you? Tell me a little more about the PCA SKIN brand... Jennifer Linder, MD: PCA SKIN is a health care company whose clinically researched and scientifically formulated products have been designed to treat such skin conditions as acne, aging skin, sensitive skin and hyperpigmentation. Considered an industry pioneer, we were the first to provide these products to the medical and clinical aesthetics markets. Ivana Veljkovic, PhD: Our peels are viewed as the gold standard in the industry. From the beginning, we have supported our peel technology with daily care products that are combined in customized regimens specific to the individual patients skin needs and goals. (Q) Behind every great creation lies a major source of influence or inspiration. Can you tell me a little more about the inspiration behind the brand? Dr. Linder: PCA SKIN was developed by an aesthetician to help physicians treat patients with troublesome skin conditions. There was a need for clinical skin care, which was not readily available in 1990 when PCA SKIN was first conceived. PCA SKIN was one of the first clinical skin care lines sold to physicians to treat the entire pathogenesis of the condition and to support the health of the skin. This line has always been designed to assist both the physician and the aesthetician, and support and encourage the relationship between the two. Now, after nearly 25 years, PCA SKIN is available to licensed skin health professionals in 78 countries and in more than 5,000 practices across the United States. (Q) Currently, what are PCA SKINs most popular products? Tell me a little more about your best sellers... Dr. Veljkovic: Our two retinol products, Intensive Clarity Treatment: 0.5% pure retinol night and Intensive Age Refining Treatment®: 0.5% pure retinol night, have been receiving rave reviews since their 2012 launch. What truly sets these products apart are their pure retinol formulations, each of which has been customized to treat specific concerns. Intensive Clarity Treatment is indicated to treat acneic conditions and hyperpigmentation, while Intensive Age Refining Treatment® aims to treat aging concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles. (Q) The products you have are impressive. One product that caught my attention was the Total Strength Serum. Tell me a little more about this product... Dr. Veljkovic: Total Strength Serum offers a next generation peptide blend along with epidermal growth factor to tighten, strengthen and firm the skin. One of the most compelling ingredients included in Total Strength Serum is palmitoyl tripeptide-38, a matrix-building peptide that has demonstrated the ability to increase the production of six highly important dermal and epidermal components: collagen I, III and IV; fibronectin; hyaluronic acid; and laminin 5. Tell me a little more about this product... I have to ask though, how important is professional treatment whether using a therapeutic mask, a TCA and/or PCA peel or even a simple skin detox? How important is treating the skin? Dr. Linder: A well-rounded daily care regimen and regularly scheduled professional treatments provide the best results possible. In other words, one without the other is not as effective as it could be. Most patients find that their results come quicker when they are seeing their skin health professional on a regular basis along with twice daily use of a daily care regimen customized to their skin concerns. (Q) Other than facial detoxing, what other alternatives are there to facial masks and peels? Dr. Veljkovic: PCA SKIN has formulated a selection of peel alternatives for patients who are not candidates for more advanced treatments. Retinoid treatments are safe for a wide range of skin types and concerns, and do not cause undue inflammation. The bacteria responsible for acne formation is the Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) bacteria.
