PCC will receive $3,249,655 in federal grant funds from the Department of Education over the next five years to strengthen student achievement by improving its Dental Studies Programs. The grant was awarded to PCC’s West Campus through the Developing Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) Title V competition. The program provides grants to assist HSIs to expand Hispanic students’ educational opportunities, as well as to improve overall academic and institutional effectiveness. The grant will fund expansion of the College’s Dental Studies Programs’ teaching laboratory and clinic to add state-of-the-art laser technology that enhance the College’s offerings in Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting and Dental Laboratory Technology. The College will add an Arizona Soft Tissue Laser Certificate and a Coronal Polish Certificate, as well as restorative dentistry curricula. The grant also will help fund a curriculum redesign to include additional electronic patient care documentation instruction. “This grant will help enhance our academic offerings and quality in an important healthcare sector,” Chancellor Lee D. Lambert says. “I want to thank Rep. Raúl Grijalva for his efforts to help secure this opportunity to provide better education to our students, with the result being a healthier Pima County.”
