PDP CRISIS: MU’AZU VISITS BABANGIDA FOR HELP, ATIKU SAYS HE CANNOT ACHIEVE ANYTHING. The PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, on Friday held a closed-door meeting with former Military President Ibrahim Babangida in continuation of his nationwide consultation with party elders. He also met with Niger Governor, Dr Babangida Aliyu. The meetings took place one week after the chairman met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta. Mu’azu, who led a 15-member team, arrived at Babangida’s Minna Uphill residence about 12:05p.m. and stayed in the meeting till 1:05p.m. The entourage included the PDP National Youth Leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Maibasera, and a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Gali Na’aba. Babangida refused to talk about the meeting, saying: “I am not going to say a word. I am not talking.’’ The PDP national chairman said that he was in Minna as part of his reconciliatory meeting with some elders of the party. “I am here in continuation of my visit to our elders and I had a fruitful meeting with the former president. It was a fruitful meeting,” Mu’azu said. It would be recalled that former Vice President Atiku Abubakah has said that newly installed chairman of the party cannot achieve any meaningful thing as the crisis rocking the party is beyond him.
