PDP Grants Senator Dariye Waiver To Contest 2015 Election The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has granted Senator Joshua Dariye who represents Plateau central senatorial district waiver to contest elective office under its platform in the 2015 general elections. In a letter addressed to the Senator dated 13th November, 2014 and signed by the PDP national secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo which was made available to LEADERSHIP in Jos yesterday, the party at its 389th meeting held on 12th November, 2014 considered his application and found him to have satisfied the relevant provisions of the party’s constitution for the granting of waiver. The Plateau State chapter of the PDP, in a statement signed by its secretary, Pam Sale, had disclaimed Chief Joshua Dariye and four others as members of the party in the state. According to the statement, the party had warned Chief Dariye and four others to stop parading themselves as members of the party and to stop printing their posters using PDP logo as they have not completed the necessary formalities that will warrant their come back bid to the party and so cannot contest any elective office under PDP platform. The letter with reference number PDP/ NS/WAV/653-2014, said the party is pleased to inform him that his application for waiver has been approved. “You are therefore free to contest any elective office under our platform. This is without prejudice to any other requirements contained in the party’s guidelines and constitution”, it stated further. The national secretary congratulated the senator for the successful granting of the waiver. Reacting on the development, Senator Dariye thanked the leadership of the party at all levels, especially President Goodluck Jonathan, for the role he played in his rejoining the party of which he was a founding member. He assured the party that he is going to put in his best to ensure that the party wins elections at all levels and urged the electorate to re-elect him as the senator representing Plateau Central senatorial district as he remains the people’s dependable choice. LEADERSHIP recalls that Senator Joshua Dariye contested and won the senatorial election under the Labour Party in 2011
