PDP PRESIDENTIAL RALLY: GOV DICKSON ASSURES PATIENCE JONATHAN OF HER SAFETY, SAYS THREAT MESSAGES ARE HANDIWORK OF THE OPPOSITION 16/01/2015. Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson has condemned in the strongest of terms, a statement by a youth group, telling the First Lady not to visit Bayelsa, stressing that, the State will remain home to President Goodluck Jonathan, his wife, Dame Patience and every citizen of the country. The Governor, who admitted that, the statement about the threat in some sections of the media, has just been brought to his attention, maintained that, the Government and the good people of the State will at all times, accord President Goodluck Jonathan, his wife, Dame Patience and other members of the first family their due honour, respect and reception in the State, as we have always done. He said, it is also the responsibility of the Government to ensure the safety and well being of members of the first family, especially during visits and other related activities within and outside the State. Governor Dickson gave this assurance, while reacting to a story credited to a group, simply known as, ‘Bayelsa Youth Vanguard’ captioned “Don’t come to Bayelsa, youths tell Patience Jonathan” published in some national dailies on Friday, 16th of January, 2015. Describing the publication, as most unfortunate and uncalled for, the Governor warned groups planning to cause any breach of the peace by attacking the First Lady to have a rethink, as such action was totally unnecessary and against the collective will and aspirations of the government and people of the State. According to him, the time calls for every group and association in the State to be united and speak with one voice, instead of whipping up unnecessary sentiments, that will portray us as a house divided against itself. The Bayelsa State Governor, however, warned persons or groups singing discordant tones to steer clear, as the security agencies have been alerted to deal decisively with anybody or group of persons, who would make any attempt to disrupt the planned PDP campaign rally slated for the 5th of next month in Yenagoa. He expressed regret over the embarrassment the said publication would have caused the First family, especially President Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience and urged the general public to disregard the publication in its entirety, as it was coming from the opposition.
