PDP and Ekiti state Government lied again about AWE There is no truth in reports on Ekiti State radio and television that the Federal High Court sitting in Jos, has vacated its earlier ruling granting the APC Chairman in Ekiti State, Chief Jide Awe, reliefs on the allegation of murder case against him and others over which he was charged, tried and discharged. The stations reported that the stage was set for re-arrest and retrial of Awe and others. But speaking from the courtroom of the Federal High Court in Jos, Awes lawyer, Tony Adeniyi, laughed it off, saying that instead of vacating the ruling, the court had granted Awe more reliefs. His words: The police were further restrained from any illegal arrest. We think the BSES is due for sanctions by the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission before it worsens the already damaged reputation of Ekiti people. Also reacting to the development, APC Publicity Secretary in Ekiti State, Taiwo Olatubosun, criticized Fayose who frustrated hearing in his own eligibility case by shutting down the Judiciary using security agents while now arm-twisting the same judiciary to nail his political opponents. He said PDPs action is a contempt of court by misinforming the public on a court pronouncement. He urged the party to first present Fayose to the courts to clear cases of alleged funds misappropriation and murder preferred against, because he who comes to equity must come with clean hands. Olatubosun said: We agree with the Governors Special Assistant on Information and Social Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka, in his published article of Feb 9, 2010 where he described his principal in the following words, For over three years that Ayodele Fayose was the Governor of Ekiti State, he was everything but a democrat. Rule of law, free and fair election, political tolerance and respect for traditional institutions were anathema to him. Those of us who dared him then had bitter tales to tell. For instance, just because I was courageous enough to expose his N1.4 billion poultry scam and other atrocities, using a local newspaper, he (Fayose) obtained a warrant of arrest against my good-self and made arrangements with boys in the prison to break my leg in detention. Olatubosun noted that unfortunately, the governor has not changed as could be seen in the attack on the judiciary and beating of judges, including desecration of the legislature by providing security cover for seven lawmakers including three non-lawmakers to impeach the Speaker in a house of 26 members. Olatubosun added that for Fayose to be seen as an apostle of peace and rule of law, he should take Lere Olayinkas prescription, viz: ...For him to be seen as a Saul who has turned to Paul, Fayose must show penitence. He must visit the families of Tunde Omojola, Dr. Ayo Daramola, nine students of the College of Education, Ikere- Ekiti, killed during a mere protest and several others that were visited with terror during the 2004 local council polls in Ilawe, Ogotun and Igbara -Odo to seek amnesty. He said the governor should allow discharged and acquitted judgment on Awe, Kehinde Boluwade and others to stand instead of using the police to terrorise them, even as he urged the police to stop being used as tools to persecute the governors opponents.
