PDP confident of clear majority in Jammu and Kashmir Srinagar: Expressing confidence about winning the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections by a clear majority, the Peoples Democratic Party on Monday asserted that the party wont require any alliance to form the government in the state. We feel that we will win by clear majority because the exit polls only give idea of the trend but numbers generally differ. We dont need any alliance. However, we need everyones support to run the state and deal with the issues, especially from the BJP because they are at power at national level and in state also they are coming up strong. We will need Congress support also. We need everyones support to run the government but not to form one, said Akhtar. He added that exit polls were credible in showing the trends but they dont have exact numbers. Counting of votes for the five-phased assembly elections in the states of Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand will begin on Tuesday. Earlier on Saturday, the Election Commission had announced 76 percent voter turnout in the fifth phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, adding that the overall polling percentage in the state in all phases was 65.5 percent. BSF recovers nearly 4 Lakh fake Indian currency near Indo-Pak border Jammu: Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a bid to smuggle fake currency with face value of nearly Rs 4 lakh near Indo-Pak border here, a senior official said. Acting on specific information, BSF troops carried out search and cordon operation near International Border (IB) in Kharkola Border Out Post (BoP) in R S Pura sector of Jammu district last evening, he said. During the search, they recovered 2 packets wrapped with yellow coloured tape, 1 packet of cigarette packet of Morvin coy, he said. On unwrapping, the packets, 399 notes (Fake Indian Currency notes) in the denomination of 1000 were found, he said, adding, recovery was of face value Rs 399000. An FIR is being lodged in the R S Pura police station and the case is being investigated, he said.
